The grant application process can be both an exciting and challenging endeavor for nonprofit organizations. The Miller Foundation wants to help applicants be as successful as possible. While not all grant proposals will meet the Foundation’s guidelines, the following general guidelines will help organizations have the best chance of producing optimal proposals:

1 Organizations must be a 501(c)3 organization and not a private foundation
2 The project must serve the Battle Creek area
3 Submit a preliminary letter of request, briefly describing the project or program, the estimated total cost of the project, the amount to be requested from The Miller Foundation, and the amount from other sources. Preliminary letters may be addressed to:
    The Miller Foundation
310 WahWahTaySee Way
Battle Creek, MI 49015
After reviewing this initial letter, The Miller Foundation staff, if appropriate, will send a formal grant application to the requesting organization.
4 Successful grant applications will include one or more of these guidelines:

•
Develop fresh new leadership

•
Work through existing organizations or agencies

•
Support, enhance, or further develop existing programs

•
Promote cooperation and unity among organizations or agencies

•
Foster volunteerism and develop volunteer leadership skills

•
Expand programming for youth or under-served populations
The Miller Foundation trustees meet every other month to consider proposals. To be considered, applications must be received by the grant deadline to be considered for the next grant cycle.

"In this day and age, it's very important to really take an active role in supporting the community that you live in. Without the addition of forward-thinking groups like The Miller Foundation, our community would lack important programs and groups that are here to help everyday."
